On the topic of "Comparison of Copper Conductors and Aluminum Conductors", technical personnel from the Architectural Society of China and IEEE, an international organization, held a forum in Shanghai on the application of aluminum conductor cables. The conclusion reached at the meeting is that from the mechanical strength of the conductor, because the mechanical strength of the aluminum conductor is far lower than that of the copper conductor, the copper conductor is advocated for cables below 16mm ².
  
However, the weight of aluminum conductors is less than that of copper conductors, especially for larger cross-sections. The advantage of light weight of aluminum conductors is greater. Building power distribution design can reasonably use copper, aluminum or alloy conductors. For example, for ordinary power trunk lines in power distribution shafts, compared with the selection of larger copper conductors with a surface receiving surface of more than 95mm ², if aluminum conductors or alloy conductors with one, two or three larger specifications can be appropriately adopted after design calculation, and standard connection terminals and tightening torque can be used, which can better meet the requirements of the construction party and is easier to construct and install.
