An official from the National Energy Administration of China said in Chengdu recently that China is considering adjusting the "Nuclear Power Medium and Long-term Development Plan" to increase the original target of 40 million kilowatts of nuclear power installed capacity by 2020 to 70 million kilowatts or more.

An official from the National Energy Administration of China said in Chengdu recently that China is considering adjusting the "Nuclear Power Medium and Long-term Development Plan" to increase the original target of 40 million kilowatts of nuclear power installed capacity by 2020 to 70 million kilowatts or more.

Huang Li, deputy director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Science and Technology Equipment of the National Energy Administration, made the above remarks at the "First Sino-US Nuclear Equipment Appraisal Seminar" held in Chengdu on November 3, 2008.

"The ice and snow disaster at the beginning of this year reflected the risk of long-distance power and coal transmission. At the same time, the G8 summit once again emphasized that countries need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to deal with global warming. These factors have prompted the Chinese government to consider adjusting the country's energy strategy." Oriole said in the conference speech.

In fact, this is not the first time that energy officials have mentioned the issue of increasing China's nuclear power development goals.

In March of this year, Zhang Guobao, director of the National Energy Administration, made it clear at the "China Development High-level Forum": "We plan to adjust the medium and long-term development plan of nuclear power, and strive to achieve more than 5% of the total installed power capacity of nuclear power in 2020."

In the same month, Zhang Guobao also said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that China is stepping up the construction of nuclear power. Judging from the current progress, China's nuclear power installed capacity is expected to reach 60 million kilowatts in 2020.

In fact, China's "Nuclear Power Medium and Long-term Development Plan (2005-2020)" adopted in 2006 set the goal that by 2020, China's installed nuclear power capacity will account for 4% of the total installed power capacity, reaching 40 million kilowatts.

Huang Xueqing, deputy dean of the China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that according to China's economic development and power development situation, in 2020, nuclear power will account for more than 5% of the total installed power capacity. This level will make its total installed capacity It is not difficult to reach the target of 70 million kilowatts.

At present, China's installed nuclear power capacity is about 9 million kilowatts, accounting for 1.3 percent of the country's total installed power capacity. However, coal-fired thermal power installations account for 76% of the country's total installed power capacity, and thermal power generation accounts for 84% of the total power generation.

National energy officials have repeatedly stated that vigorously developing nuclear power is the choice to adjust China's power supply structure, reduce supply risks, and develop clean energy.

According to Zhang Guobao's analysis, in recent years, China has established the National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, which has promoted the introduction and localization of third-generation nuclear power technology and equipment. At the same time, in practice, a large number of teams that can adapt to the construction and operation of nuclear power have been cultivated. The level of nuclear power technology and equipment manufacturing capabilities have also been greatly improved and breakthroughs, and they have initially possessed the ability of independent innovation and self-development.

Huang Li said in Chengdu that at this stage, on the one hand, China is actively introducing, absorbing and re innovating the international advanced third generation nuclear power technology, and developing more advanced and safe nuclear power reactors; on the other hand, it is actively applying mature second generation and "second generation plus" technology to vigorously develop nuclear power.

At present, the scale of nuclear power under construction in China is 12.1 million kilowatts, but Huang Xueqing's "one account" for reporters shows that the total number of projects under construction in China, together with the projects to be started this year and next year, will bring the installed capacity of nuclear power to more than 20 million kilowatts.

he introduced, china has started construction or is about to start construction of Ling'ao Phase II 2 1 million-kilowatt units, Qinshan Phase II expansion 2 650000-kilowatt units, Hongyanhe 4 million-kilowatt units, Fujian Ningde Phase I 4 million-kilowatt units, Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Station 4 units, as well as Fangjiashan, Guangdong Yangjiang nuclear power project ...... plus Zhejiang Sanmen and Shandong Haiyang two projects will introduce 4 AP1000 (third-generation advanced pressurized water reactor) units and so on, the construction of these projects highlights that China is speeding up its nuclear power industry.
